Assignment: E-Learning Tool Description Paper: Nearpod

Assignment description and purpose:
The assignment was aligned with the course learning objectives by integrating teaching practices into learning in order to improve the learning experience (LO6) and evaluate technology (L08).
The purpose of this assignment was to explore this tool and its features and how they are aligned with active learning, students’ engagement, and real time-feedback. In this assignment, I chose Nearpod, a digital tool that can be used both online and offline, offering a lot of interactive features such as quizzes, games, collaborative discussions, videos, virtual reality and formative assessment. The goal of this assignment was not to describe this tool technically, but to connect it to instructional design practices and learning theories.
Skills gained as an instructional designer:
Completing this assignment gained me many skills, including evaluating E-Learning tools from a pedagogical point of view and how it can be aligned directly with lessons learning objectives. This experience helped to align technology use with instructional design theories for meaningful learning. It also developed my analytical skills which is a very important skill for instructional designer in order to understand learner’s needs and choose the proper tools.
The main strength of this assignment:
is the deep understanding of the components of effective digital learning tools by encouraging critical thinking analysis rather than choosing the tool based on its innovation. This assignment showed a great connection between theories of learning and classroom applications.
Recommendations for Enhancing the Assignment:
If I were to improve this artifact, I would link the Nearpod tool directly to instructional design theories like ADDIE model by adding classroom scenarios that demonstrate each phase of the model to strengthen the theoretical grounding. This artifact can also be connected to other courses in the program such as EDU344 using of multimedia were technology used to create an engaging learning experience and student-centered interactions.
